TESOL PORTFOLIO
TESOL 699
About the Portfolio
MS.Ed.TESOL students may register for Portfolio only after at
least 23 credits of required course work have been completed. Those who
choose Portfolio will be expected to produce several pieces of original work
that are of sufficient quality and significance to be publishable (perhaps with
some editorial revision and polishing). The exact number, size, and nature of
the Portfolio pieces will be determined in consultation with the TESOL
faculty.
Portfolio Requirements
Portfolio pieces may take the form of...
research papers
an extensive annotated bibliography
syllabi, lesson plans, & teaching
materials
English language tests
curriculum designs
integrative essays
media materials
NOTE#1: Papers should be 15-20 pages in length.
NOTE#2: An Annotated Bibliography should include at
least 20 sources. Abstracts may not be used as sources.
Scholarship
Regardless of what other use you might be planning for the Portfolio, the submission of it as partial fulfillment for the M.S.Ed. TESOL degree requires it to be a scholarly document. As such, if you quote from any source or use any material that is not your own, these should be properly credited -- with both in-text citation and full-info references at the end of each section or (if appropriate) at the end of the Portfolio.
Evaluation
An
oral presentation of the Portfolio to the TESOL faculty is also
required. The date and time for this will be arranged near the completion of
the project.
