We are once again able to bring you "The Experience of a Lifetime": Teach the Children of China. Come Experience China through the eyes of the children. From August 1 to August 22, 2004. After an overwhelming successful Experience of a Lifetime, Sara Seggie International TESOL trainer and former ESL teacher in China, will once again introduce 15 past and present graduates of International TESOL to the marvels of China and the warmth of it's people, especially the children. We are pleased to announce that International TESOL, along with it's international ESL organization LEARN ENGLISH INTERNATIONAL, has arranged once again with the Buckland Group of schools in China to host "The Experience of a Lifetime" - Teach the Children of China. This "Experience of a Lifetime" - teaching the children of China is located in the city of Guilin in Gungagxi Province, one of the best known and most beautiful areas of China. Guilin has a population of over 520,000, making it a small to medium size city in China. In Guilin teachers will participate in teaching English while being supported and guided by the continued presence of Sara Seggie and other Chinese teachers. International TESOL grads will obtain true ESL teaching experience totaling over 60 hours during their participation. International TESOL will recognize this professional experience with an additional seal for the International TESOL accreditation. During the 3-week graduate International TESOL program teachers will have the opportunity to get to know and interact with both their students and Chinese staff, making friends and experiences that will last for a lifetime? The schools director Mr. Owen Buckland and Sara Seggie will take all teachers on cultural excursions around the area to really meet the people and the children of China. This is truly the "Experience of a Lifetime"! Your International TESOL Director and Guide is: Mona Beauregard. Monais a graduate of the International TESOL program in 1999 and subsequently became an Inetrnational TESOL trainer. This "Experience of a Lifetime" includes:
A Little about Guilin - A special place on earth. Located in the southern part of China north of Hong Kong, Guilin is famous for its unique scenery both to China and the rest of the world. Actually the landscape of China - at least the image that most westerners have of it - is the landscape of Guilin. Characteristics of Guilin scenery are its oddly-shaped solitary hills rising out of flat ground, crystal waters winding through the region, intricate caves in various shapes and exquisite stones. A famous Chinese poet described the region this way, about 1,200 years ago: "The river forms a green silk belt, the mountains are like blue jade hairpins." The karst formations were thrust up from the limestone seabed, which was covered for centuries by the area's unique wind and water conditions, this "stone forest", with its subterranean caves and rivers, creates a haunting atmosphere. The Li River, the main river in this area, winds through the rising and falling hills and peaks like a colored silk ribbon. A cruise on the river brings visitors in touch with the unique scenery around Guilin, which is considered to be a fine art gallery as natural scenic wonders unfold on both banks of the river. At home and abroad, Guilin is primarily known for its enticing and unique scenery. Chinese frequently refer to it as the world's most beautiful scenery, and one will acknowledge its beauty once one has taken a relatively tranquil trip down the Lijiang. Over the course of centuries many poets and painters have been drawn to these parts, and they have all praised the beauty of Guilin in their works. Today's Guilin ranks second respectively on the list of China's ten best scenic spots and that of China's top forty tourist spots, just second to the Great Wall of China. ©2003 International TESOL | |||||
