Africa has a very high need to learn English for the opportunities it can bring. However, most countries are very poor and have much higher priorities such as food production, infrastructure development and medical provision for their people. As a result there are few GREAT ESL teaching opportunities where the teacher can live at a standard they are accustomed to.

Countries That Can Pay:
Benin, Central African Republic, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana

These countries offer limited paying ESL jobs. There are a few schools and jobs can usually be obtained by English speakers with some qualifications. Salaries are low but then so are costs of living. Students are appreciative and the experience is generally very rewarding.

Volunteering:
Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Togo
