The jobs are located in every non-English speaking country and many English speaking countries worldwide. However, in non-English speaking countries, only about 80 countries can provide the job opportunities and work conditions that attract English speakers. English speaking countries require ESL teachers to fulfill the demand in their country created by the influx of visiting students enrolling in English language programs.
About 40% or 8,000 of the ESL jobs worldwide are located in Asia. Seventy percent of these are in China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
In Europe, about 25% of world jobs or 5,000, are split
evenly between the former West and East Europe. In Latin America, some
5,000 jobs are available from Mexico to Chile and Argentina. Mexico presently
offers about half of the jobs in Latin America. The Middle East and Africa
present some 10% or 2,000 of worldwide jobs. Africa offers few jobs with
conditions acceptable to English speakers.
