WHY  NEW PROGRAMS?

The demand for English teachers worldwide is increasing so quickly that it now seems improbable that the traditional English speaking countries will ever be able to supply enough teachers to satisfy that demand.

In China , the demand is so high to learn English that over 550,000 English teachers will be required in the next 5 years. Less than  25,000   are expected to be provided  from English speaking countries.

Throughout the rest of Asia:  Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia ,  the demand for English teachers far outstrips the supply of English teachers from the English speaking world.

Across  Latin America : Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Brazil , Honduras and others countries , the shortage of over 7000 qualified English teachers is restricting the evolution of the countries and their  people into the global economy.

Eastern Europe,  Croatia, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Russia specifically are now in desperate need of more than 12,000 English teachers  to continue their Europeanization and participation in   the global economy.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

The only effective  solution to this growing gap for English teachers is the training and re-training of local teachers to teach English to  international standards. The international English teaching community must support the transfer of knowledge from English speaking countries to countries wishing to learn English.

The International TESOL methodology has been tried and tested  in the worlds´ largest English market, China. During 2001, International TESOL undertook a comprehensive teacher training program for Chinese teachers of English in a venture with the Candlelight Charity project of Beijing. The project which was targeted at  rural English teachers  outside the city of Beijing , trained over 500 teachers of English in just 3 months. Twenty -two Canadian and American graduates of international TESOL participated in this highly successful venture . These graduates went home to offer training to other teachers.

The International TESOL/ Candlelight English teacher training program was accredited by the Ministry of Education of Beijing for the improvement of  teaching English in the rural areas of the province. Joint International TESOL/ Candlelight Charity certificates were awarded all Chinese teacher participants. Click for accreditation certificate.

All International TESOL participants were awarded International TESOL Instructor  accreditation to train English teachers in China. Many have done just that and are still instructing teachers in China.

OUR RESPONSE.

In response  to  this growing  gap in the demand and supply of English teachers, International TESOL College has launched three new international English teacher training programs  focusing on training English teachers for the 3 largest markets in the world, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
